KOFFIA 2012's International Short Film Showcase line-up revealed

For the first time KOFFIA will present a selection of the best and latest short films from Korean filmmakers based all across the world. This International Short Film Showcase will see 11 Australian Premieres and 1 Sydney premiere take place across 3 categories in this free program at KOFFIA 2012.

PANORAMA

Son Tae-gyum's 'Fly By Night'

A group of award-winning films direct from major international festivals, includes Kim Souk-young's Anesthesia (Official Competition, Berlin International Film Festival 2012), Son Tae-gyum's Fly By Night (Cinefondation Prize, Cannes Film Festival 2012) and Yoon Ga-eun's Guest (Vancouver International Film Festival 2011).

K-MYSTERY

Dahci Ma's 'Ghost'

This selection of films features dark tales about mysterious characters, and includes Dahci Ma's magic realist Ghost (Official Selection, Cannes Film Festival) and Oh In-chun's action-horror hit Metamorphoses. Also screening is the recent crowd-funding phenomenon and KOFFIA Team supported, Lee Yoon-jung's Remember O Goddess, starring Kim Jung-tae (He's on Duty, Windstruck).

SCHOOL DAYS

Cho Yong-won's 'An Education'

A theme developed specifically for this showcase, these youthful films cover the many complex issues faced by high school students in various contexts. Lee Woo-jung's See You Tomorrow (Official Competition, Berlin International Film Festival 2012 & Best Picture, Busan International Film Festival 2011), Cho Yong-won's An Education and Kim Hee-jin's A Brand New Journey will be complemented by 2 documentary entries from the USA, Judy Suh's ExamiNation and Mina T. Son's Making Noise in Silence.

Hong Sang-soo's (Virgin Stripped Bare By Her Bachelors, Like You Know It All) 2009 short film titled Lost In The Mountains will also feature in the KOFFIA 2012 Short Film Competition event during the festival in Sydney.
